"Layers" An Adventure in Colors for Altered Books

These are a few of my samples for the "Layers" An Adventure in Color for Altered Books class, that will be taught at
Absolutely Everything in Topsfield, Massachusetts April 20, 21 & 22
This class was developed as a result of using everything that was laying out on my worktable that day.
Needless to say I was very happy with the colorful results!!!
The spread above, was featured in issue number 2 of Cloth, Paper, Scissors Magazine as a workshop article.

More techniques learned, dyed & distressed pages, using Dorland's Wax, shimmer & sparkle & gel medium fun!!!

On these pages we have encased an autumn leaf and created a hand ripped cutout shown under the tree.

This is one of the techniques also taught, hand ripped and paper layered pockets.

Boston..

Just a note about my Boston trip..
Seems I've been there alot over the last 4 months.
I really feel some deep connection to Cape Cod, reminds me so much of Wisconsin..
How I miss Wisconsin, the water, my friends, Friday nite fish frys..

The people I have met in Boston are so sweet, lots super fun artists!!
The history of time past, so many antique book stores, the Portugese food (which I didn't know I liked until recently) and the peace that comes over me when I walk the water..

I scored big with my heart rock collecting there..
Found 16 heart shaped rocks this was my favorite!!!

Also, found this boulder of a heart rock that of course my friends didn't even realize..
The representation of me finding these rocks is that love is everywhere..
You just need to look for it, sometimes it's right under your nose and other times you have to look a little harder:)

I've got 2 more trips scheduled that way for the year, then I'll have to come up with new classes so I can go back next year:)
This pic is of some of my students at "The Stamp Act Store"
Fabulous artists that taught me a thing or two:)

Not to mention the East Coast has some great animal shelters that I have been talking with in hopes of networking so that more of my animals can find forever homes..

My New Blog

I'm starting this blog for my own personal thoughts, art & news.
I really miss being around other artful souls on a regular basis, as my life has gone to the dogs so to speak:)
But I am trying to restore some balance and even though I am not there yet, I am actively working on this issue.
This is one of my new classes for "2007"
"Profound Secrets of the Burnt & Bound"
The images used here are from Michael deMeng's new stamp collection but the techniques used can be applied to any other imagery. You can view the whole collection at Stampers Anonymous.
I will be teaching this class at The Stamp Act in Marshfield, Mass., Art Unraveled in Phoenix, Arizona, The Artists Nook in Fort Collins, Colorado and I have more to be scheduled.
Here are some of the samples:

I have so many things I 'm currently working on, between kibble, caretaking and treats:)
Classes that I will be teaching in Cortona, Italy next year in September, another ATC Book, magazine articles, new website, catching up on paperwork, loading an e-bay auction and already I have over 500 orders for Christmas ornaments.. (((eeek!!!)))

So needless to say, this seems to be the only means of communication that I have these days to stop for a moment and let my friends know what I'm up to..
I miss chatting with so many of you on a weekly basis, one of these days things will slow down:)
